Hello everyone, i'm a Berlin (Germany) based vintage drummer who wants to spend more time keeping his gear in shape. That is why i am very glad that a forum like this exists.
Recently i had the luck to be able to buy a complete 1948 Slingerland kit (bass, drum, rack tom, floor tom w. legs + tons of hardware and accessoires) from the first owner but when i unpacked it some things struck me as being a bit strange. Maybe this community can answer my questions.
The drums are wrapped in (dark) green marine pearl, did such a finish exist or is it black faded to green? The drums do not have serial numbers on the inside, how about that?
Then there is the snare. Looks Slingerland with brass only badge, streamline lugs, three point strainer, mahagony shell w. maple reinforcement rings. But there are some oddities here as well: six lugs, no serial number stamp inside, no (drill holes for) muffler. Who can tell me something more about this snare?
I will post pictures of the complete set later since i'm not sure if 1948 is the correct year for this kit. For now here are some pics of (details of) the snare.
Thanks!
