ID question to Premier guru

Loading...

Hi guys.

Yesterday I've sorted one bunch from my wealth and found something, but I don't remember where it came from... damn, sclerotic mind... :)

Who can tell me something about couple of 60 - 70's Premier parts? This is a small oval metal chromed plate (about 1 1/2" x 1" size) and central oval hole. It has stamped Premier made title and also little curved hook on one end and hole on opposite.

The second detail is similar to fixing plate from vintage tom-bass legs bracket.

Photo coming soon, hope they help.

Any ideas are appreciates.

George.

NO expert, but sounds like the backing plate for lug and tom mounts. They go inside the shell. Mount the lug with the screws loose, then slide the plate over the screws inside the shell. Tighten the screws against the plate.

+ on that. they were used as washers inside the shell to speed up production. screw goes most of the way in first, washer follows.very few dropped washers and very accurate screw alignment with no washer in the way. probably cut 1/2 the time off of lug mounting.

I doubt it, my friends.

The first part looks as some functional detail of hardware and the same time as a badge.

Here is the terrible photo by phone (camera is on travel with my daugther) --- when she'll come back i'll try to do a new pics.

sorry, George. i interpreted your description incorrectly. those look to be leg clamps. Premier and Ajax too, for a while, had these inside the floor tom leg mounts and the spur mounts( i think only these for Ajax). by pushing on them you release the grip on the leg, which is restored by spring pressure, when you relax the pressure on the little tab. i've never had one out but that's what they look like.

Thanks Phil.

I also supposed the same in a start post, but this type was used in 50--- to 1966, but I still not sure. Waiting for Premier experts opinion...

Looks like you could use that second piece in the pics to turn those slotted tension rods.

Definitely that's it. I do have a Premier '303 Outfit' from late 60s to early 70s, and the bass drum spurs have these parts inside their brackets.

Through the holes of both goes the spur - and the right part in the pic will be pressed down with a finger tip at the longer end to loosen the spur.

If you see a pic of those bass drum spurs: the end of the 'longer end side' (= the bottom part in the pic) can be seen outside of the bracket.
