How come,.."in the USA" is not part of the title ? Oh, I know, cuz Ludwig can`t throw anything at the 506, 421, Super Extra or the 912 Gold (Au) and gunmetal engraved from back in the day !! !! Lot of recording happened in Britian too !!

Hmmmm.......I wonder if this is the longest running discussion we've had on the forum? Kleening
Just to be fair with the facts. I used to have some serious affairs with an 8x14 wooden shell Ayax, a Beverley Cosmic 21 and a 5x5x14 Steel shelled Wooding (By Meazzy)...but I always came back to my Good ol' 402...
Cause you got the bug dont'cha?

Funny stuff.
I've read thorough this and I don't see where the quality of the supra was ever questioned. Not sure what this new batch of posts has to do with the thread, though.
"Most recorded"? What doe's that mean anymore? Just about every other musician has some type of home studio in their house.
It's a great drum that records great.
When the subject is 'most recorded', it means in the realm of professional recordings that are sold commercially and have made it to one chart or another, radio play etc.
I'm sure that what Johnny Smith uses to record his band in the garage was never meant to enter into the discussion.
I did always think that the statement was a direct correlation to the number of supras sold and therefore recorded? From hit records to garage bands.
Every drummer I know has one.
I just read through this thread and it makes me kinda laugh. Not because of anyone's statements or opinions. I respect and admire what everyone has to say. My laughter comes because I got a 1966 Ludalloy 400 with a '71 Slingerland set. I used it a couple of times for club gigs and I didn't like it. My go to has been a Noble & Cooley Alloy Classic 4.75X14 that plays like a dream and the Supra just didn't seem to have the guts or the sensitivity of the N&C and I just sold it. I used that money to fund a 70/71 Slingerland COB and I like that snare more, too. So, with my experience with a Ludalloy Supra, I do not think this is the best snare ever but I'd leave my opinion open to the brass Supras as the only experience I've had with one was 25 years ago when I studied on Alan Dawson's custom engraved and personalized brass Supra. And yes, that was a gorgeous drum. So, I think it is easy to say we've all heard a godzillian recordings with this drum but is it the be all end all? There are drums that are worse but there are other drums that are better but if you like it, go with it.
1971 Slingerland Avante 60N Lavender Satin Flame
1976/7 Ludwig Vistalite 5pc Yellow
1980's Ludwig Rocker 5pc Black
2004 Gretsch Catalina Birch Caribbean Blue
1998 Noble & Cooley Alloy Classic 14X4.75
1922 Bower Snare
Hell Grand funk Railroad sold 79 million records in a 6 year period that should help the supra stats ..lolflowers2flowerExcited
