Mercury Drums?

Loading...

A guy in my neck of the woods is selling a Mercury kit in the tiger wrap. Does anyone know the history of these drums? Also, do they have any value beyond the 75.00 or b.o. that he's asking?

I've personally never heard of them, but whatever they are, if they're playable, they're worth $75. And if they LOOK cool, so much the better. You can figure out if they have vintage value later. Long as they're round and heads fit you'll be a go!

And heck, you'll have a kit for $75!!

good point...great perspective... they do look very cool / retro...if they're not gone, would be an inexpensive Christmas kit for my 10 y.o. grandson who comes over and bangs on mine.

Absolutely!! And if they look cool, who knows, they might sound pretty cool too. You'll start a whole new trend in Vintage collecting, Mercury Drums!! L0L!!

If it makes you feel better paying $75, at least one person thinks they're worth more! There's a Mercury set on eBay right now for $150 plus $75 shipping that's being bid on....

Either way, cool look for cheap.

(Plus, you can't fake good ol' vintage tone with new drums.)

Enjoy!

Very interesting posts. I've had Mercry Pros for more that thirdy years. They were purchased from chopin music in trenton nj in the 70's. They have held up well and I still play them. I'm going to be recording music with them as soon as I figure out the best way to digitally mic everything.

Well...this post was resurrected from long ago, but...just for anyone's info: The old Japanese tiger stripe patterns are actually worth quite a bit... if we are talking a complete kit in good shape (or one which can be prettied up back into good shape)...a 4-pc. kit in that wrap fetches about $500 or so...really, just because of the wraps.

Yeah, they can be decent playing kits....
