Incredible find! I too am interested in knowing what "issues" you found, because they look amazing!

Beautiful

What did you use to clean off the contact paper residue?

What a great story and a great thread! We all dream of stuff like this. Closest I came was a 70's Rogers Powertone kit that had been covered in koa patterned contact paper, and guess what was underneath? Bare wood... Wrap was all gone, and it looked like the guy removed it with a hatchet. Oh well... It's still a fine player.

Sooo... Any biters on the kit yet? Care to share your asking price? Feel free to PM if it's not for public consumption.

Hey guys,

As always, Thanks so much for the kind feedback!

@fishaa - I originally started out using "never dull" to remove the 30yr old contact paper residue. After doing some research, I realized never dull is basically mineral spirits. Yet in still, I was scrubbing to the point my arms and hands were killing me....and then trying to get through a gig.

So I did what I read to never do.....I tried xylene. It worked like a charm, the glue instantly wadded up into little glue balls with little effort. I immeditely wiped the wrap back off with mineral spirits.

No discoloration, no fading , just magic. I'm not saying it's right for every situation, I'm just sayin it worked for me.

@Slingerlynn - The issues aren't overly visible unless I point them out. All issues are fixable as well.

The bass drum has extra holes where the previous owner added some yamaha spurs. (Insert failure music here.....) I'm still thinking about fixing this before I try and sell to the masses. The badge on the bass is missing as well however, the original grommet is still present.

@Mspartacus - I've only listed it locally on CL.

12,13,16,22 plus a 5x14 60's chrome supra and cases for everything. I put a high number on it thinking someone would try and talk me down to the number I wanted in the first place. Not a peep on this though. I'm happy to email you a $ number, or feel free to make me an offer

Party on Garth!
