Well I went to see those cymbals and sure enough they are 26's. I had to measure them twice just to convince myself. The ride is ink stamped med heavy and is brand new like is just walked out of the store! NOS for sure. The story is they have been in storage since 65 and I guess they just fell into his lap. Sure would like to know what he paid! No stick marks and heavily lathed. The sound was incredible and quite possibly the best bell I've heard. The crash one if you will is definitely stamped crash and was a little brighter with some great characteristics. You can definitely crash it but it's more in the crash ride range. Sadly I didnt have the dough for both so I opted for the thinner crash one as it is the best of both worlds. Both were amazing though. I got it home and compared it to some of my other 60's A's and it blew all of them out of the water right up to 24.

I was never a believer in the big pies but my mind has been changed.

Well here it is- a 26" 50's Zildjian crash. I tried to walk away but that sound! Truth be told it's more on the crash/ride side of things. Amazing bell a great wash. I thought it would be completely uncontrollable but it's quite the opposite. The outside has a bit of patina( I'm not touching it) and the underside is like new. Out of a fairly large stable the definite leader. Great articulation and all those things good writers say about a great cymbal! I'm gonna buy it's sister ride this weekend just because! (the sister ride is the last photo)

Vince welcome to the club. The one you have closely resembles the 26 i had, similar bell shape and same stamp. Mine was much heavier(5400g) though but had a beautiful silvery click to it.

I would like to do a side by side with my trans 26". It's still heavier(4414) than yours but is very wobbley, not washy unless i choose to make it that way and crashes very well.

I also have a 30" but it's a whole different animal, still wobbley and crashable but a little higher pitched. The trans 26 is quite dark and more complex which is why i choose to gig with it.

I also can suggest a cheap bag to haul it around if you like, you can get them pretty cheap and padded, look on ebay under bicycle wheel bags. You should be able to get one for around $20.00 shipped. BTW only get a single wheel bag.

Well I picked up the ride and it's truly a nice cymbal. In storage hidden beneath the other 26" since 1965 so it was protected from aging. It looks brand new and not a hit on it.!! Some heavy lathing marks which I think are factory. A few finger prints but in unplayed condition. It's stamped med. heavy but it actually seems pretty thin if that makes sense.
