Does this look like light blue pearl?

Someone else will chime in on the drums but I can tell you that is a 70's hi-hat stand. I had one just like it from the mid 70's. Very attractive kit by the way.

Thanks, yes they are such good condition it makes me think they cant be old but the hardware, especially the tom mount look vintage. And the logo on the bass drum also looks vintage. I hope your right and someone will chime in, osakabop, jonnyistix, I hope.

Nice find! Great wrap! Those seem to be from the late (very late) 60's or early 70's. That 'Pearl' logo gives it away, as does the 'Made In Japan' on the badge. I'd think early 70's maybe, since the badge looks like a sticker. If those were from the '90s I would think they would be made in Taiwan, and be a solid color wrap.

Great find, JC! They remind of a Whitehall kit that I owned (same tom mount, lugs etc.). Ironically, I ended up selling that kit to a guy on ebay named Matt Chamberlin (yes, the "real" one).

If I may say so, I really dig that color. As a Detroit area native, the color reminds me of the old (Barry Sanders era and before) Detroit Lions "Honolulu Blue" that pairs perfectly with the Lions shade of gray. I shall call this your "Lions Kit"!

Awesome splash. I've never heard a UFIP splash that I didn't like. What era/series is the Zildjian? I think you got your $300 worth!

The CB700 cymbals were first made in the 60s in Italy by UFIP. They have ribs - rotocast I believe. Many of these will have the rectangular or square MADE IN ITALY ink stamp on the underbelly of the cymbal near the bell. Now, I HAVE seen some of these without the stamp (neither the ink one nor the punched one), but I can spot them from the features.....I understand they are B20 but they seem to have a look and sound of a B8. Now, to positively ID the Italian ones from the later, cheaper, pretty worthless Taiwanese (and maybe German) ones is that the Italian ones are undersized. They will be like 17and 7/8 inches. Like I said, I have a 16, 18 and indeed 2 pairs of HHs of these. They commonly have a brilliant finish (likely under their patina if you find one of these)....these Italians were made in the 60s. My 18 was my first one and it is beauitiful - sounds as good as any Paiste 18in crash....similar in sound. Bright, Loud - tthey can be "rided" as they are quite clear and dry until you crash it..... Also, I have heard these described as sounding like a mix between B8 and B20....right in the middle. Maybe that is accurate in composition as well?

I agree 100% here. I recently picked up a CB-700 with the same stamp and brilliant finish as John describes. It is also undersized (19.5"). It isn't the most beautiful sounding ride I own, but has a very unique character and quality that I can't find in other cymbals. Best of all, it was $20!

Thank you, Im a Bears fan actually but not really against Detroit. The Zildjian is an 18" crash, made in usa with the large Zildjian logo in black ink on the bottom. Nice sounding cymbal! I have alot to learn about cymbals.

Does the Zildjian have a serial number, or just a trademark? I'm thinking it's probably a late 80's early 90's A series. In my opinion, those were the last great run of Zildjians. From the mid-90's (addition of serial numbers) and beyond, their quality has gone way down.

Does it have a model designation or size on top? It should also have a smaller Zildjian logo on the top, 180 degrees from the model designation (the model designation will be just underneath the trademark). Sometimes even if the printing is worn off, you can still see the "ghost" of the printing on the cymbal.

The CB cymbal I have says made in taiwan around the hole. It is called a MX series. It measures 17.75"

Dude, that's a "hollow logo" Zildjian. Even better! Those date from 1977-1983. Hollow logos are usually very nice sounding!
