Does this look like light blue pearl?

Loading...

This kit is for sale in my area. From looking at the finish charts on this site I think it is light blue pearl. If it is, anyone out there own a kit with this wrap. I kinda want to buy it but already have too many drum sets. Id go see it in person but then I will buy it for sure. I was told the hihat cymbals and ride cymbal are CB percussion, did they make cymbals? But one of the big ones is a zildjian. He wants 300 for all of it.

If its a rare wrap please let me know.

Not all that rare, but a great color and wonderful wrap for collectors of this color. Don't let it get away if in good condition. You could always send it "home" to 'OsakaBop"...If you already run an e-fillet site, you could make big cashy sending it back without his assistance, selling only to Japan!

That's not a too bad looking kit , if everything in the picture is part of the deal. CB had cymbals from several makers. They got worse as they went along because the price stayed the same. The older ones are likely Toscos, from the early years and those are pretty good for what they were charging for them. I had a set of CB 13" made in Italy hihats , and anyone could have gigged them anywhere. I paid 5.00 for them and 11.00 shipping. They went with a sweet little Beverley kit .

jonnistix, its great to hear from you again! I have the drum buying bug but not much of a seller. I do sell the ones that I paint myself because they are just not very exciting to me. I like to keep the kits with the cool wraps because I still think I may never see one again. I might just have to take the short drive to check these out. Im not doing this to make money so shipping to Japan is , well, ah, not going to happen, lol. they would stay with me.

Calf, thanks for the quick education on the cb cymbals. I had one CB kit and it was basically junk, but Im talkin drums, not cymbals. I assume these cymbals are low quality.

OK - real quick -

for some of you, I am about to spill the beans and create competition when one of these comes to market! I already have my 16/18 crashes so I am all set - unless I decide on a ride....but not in a hurry and not in buying mode at all right now (to say the least!).

The CB700 cymbals were first made in the 60s in Italy by UFIP. They have ribs - rotocast I believe. Many of these will have the rectangular or square MADE IN ITALY ink stamp on the underbelly of the cymbal near the bell. Now, I HAVE seen some of these without the stamp (neither the ink one nor the punched one), but I can spot them from the features.....I understand they are B20 but they seem to have a look and sound of a B8. Now, to positively ID the Italian ones from the later, cheaper, pretty worthless Taiwanese (and maybe German) ones is that the Italian ones are undersized. They will be like 17and 7/8 inches. Like I said, I have a 16, 18 and indeed 2 pairs of HHs of these. They commonly have a brilliant finish (likely under their patina if you find one of these)....these Italians were made in the 60s. My 18 was my first one and it is beauitiful - sounds as good as any Paiste 18in crash....similar in sound. Bright, Loud - tthey can be "rided" as they are quite clear and dry until you crash it..... Also, I have heard these described as sounding like a mix between B8 and B20....right in the middle. Maybe that is accurate in composition as well?

See the attached stamp, and NOTE: I have a 16 of these I am willing to sell. and don't forget about the HHs. I have the 14s and 15s (which both are slightly undersized - and these hats have a brilliant finish - just gorgeous).

So.....if that is what is included in this deal - JUMP ON IT, as you will surely be happy with those cymbals!!!!

I must give credit where credit is due.....I learned most everything about these from this guy who posted this.....and yes that cymbal was sold long ago.

Well , I ended up buying the drums. The hihat and ride cymbal were the cheep mit ones but the zildjian was a nice one. The best part is the drums. The seller thinks they are from the 90's but I dont think so. I think they are late 60's, early 70's by the hardware. They are near mint condition, the seller got them from his Grandfather a few years ago. Grandpa played for enjoyment so never gigged them. They must have been a nice cool dark room for a long time. There is no rust at all, tiny bit of pitting and the waraps are like new. I feel like I did good for 300.00. So am I right, are these drums 60/70 era?

Someone else will chime in on the drums but I can tell you that is a 70's hi-hat stand. I had one just like it from the mid 70's. Very attractive kit by the way.
