Wow! very nice set of drums... This forum is attached to a much larger and complete historical web site.

I say complete only because it does have a lot of stuff, but will never officially be complete...

Look at the top for the Slingerland Section by DrCJW.

Then go to the home page vintagedrumguide.com and click on the Slingerland Image.. there is a lot of different sections there as well with drum set configurations etc...

Then come back here with your findings and fill in the details and ask us any questions not covered on the web site.

This is a rare find and you are one lucky drum fellow!

Yeah.. those are beautiful.. no bids yet but get ready to jump if she takes off on you.

Get your strategy all figured out... stick to your limit.. this is a beautiful set but there will be others and your money will always be good.

Best of luck on this one... you might have a little fight on your hands.

It almost makes me wanna cry!! They're BEAUTIFUL!!

I had a set much like this, but without the snare drum. I sold them to a friend when the band I was in said they were just too loud. They were getting too damp sitting in storage and I was afraid they were going to be ruined so I sold them. My friend still has them and loves them, so that part is good. But I sure miss that HUGE tone and great vintage look they had.

I died inside a little that day.

all right, then it s a 50-53 set looking at the badge, right?

looking at the catalog, looks like a gene kupa outfit...

is there a way to know if that snare is a single ply?

and please, tell me everything about this set:

i am a young drummer, i just came from switzerland, i play for 20 years and had two sets. a pearl export, and a gms. after that gms, that i bought 8 years ago, i started looking at vintage drums, but living in switzerland, it was very hard to find one. So i waited and now is the time to buy a radio king set, but if there is something wrong with this one, just let me know!!!

i ll make her sing like she never before, oh dear, garanteed!!

Ok, then you have have a good date range..

Solid Shell - Yes

The question I have is the rail mount on the bass drum and the exact year they started that.. Better photos of the placement of the rail and what type of rail mount it is should answer that.

Also, a photo of the tom mounting plate...

ok will provide pics as soon as possible..

what is a fair price for such a kit?

yannec

also, my gms is supposed to have a "gretsch-isch" sound, so i am trying to find something that would compliment that, my gms being a 18" bd fast and agile type of set...

from my understanding, those radio king have a fatter powerfull sound, right?

I see that the auction ended at $1200.00 with no bids entered.. If you can get that drum set for under $1000 I think you would be doing pretty darn well.

I didn't pay to close attention to what all was included... but complete kits of that vintage in excellent condition seem to be priced right around that mark or higher... do some googling.. search completed auctions.. look at vintage dealer sites.. then make your offer.

Best of luck!
