re-wraped tama royal stars

I have picked up quite the assortment of kits lately and decided to dive in to a royal star kit i picked up a week ago. i found some croc naugahyde vinyl wrap at a fabric store on sale,.... so this cost me a minimum investment. other than the wrap i polished all the hardware, lubed all the tension lugs, waxed the edges, and threw a new set of skins. the wrap was a must because the old wrap was cracked and peeling off when i picked it up.

total investment

royalstar 4 pc shell pack 150.00

spray adhesive 7.00

vinyl wrap 36.00

brasso 5.00

new skins 106.00

new grommets 1.50

total 305.50

So there is a couple bux put into this project how ever....... i know have some thing I can be proud of and also know that there are not many if any kits exactly like mine. I know the wrap will not be everyones taste, however I thought it was very well suited for a old tama kit. I also have lots of extra wrap for extra drums or some ocotbans,....... I am actually picking up a 24'' kick tomorrow and have a 12'' that i did not post in the picks. as it stands sizes are...

thanks for the complement... been sunny for a while now...... i actually build these in the backyard with the aid of a couple cold ones and the bbq after work hours. what else to do when hockey is not in season?

Beautiful job, louse! I think the wrap is very cool. I'm in Ontario where it's been hot and very humid! Thank God for cold Canadian beer, hey!

Are the heads a snug fit with the vinyl wrap? I did a similar job on an old Star kit and some heads needed a bit of effort to get seated. It's certainly a cost effective way to re-wrap and the spray adhesive on mine has held well for nearly a year now and it's set up in a very sunny spot all the time.

BTW that's a cool wrap i reckon.

Thanks for the complement! I actually cut the wrap down a inch and then apply the wrap. After the wraps pretty much on and dried I peel down the wrap, tape the edge and respray and then hit it with a neoprene roller. Heads fit as new" however I just use a little bit of caution when putting on the head.

If I you can remove the entire wrap no problem though .

Beautiful look in direct sunlight!

The finish reminds me of the 'croco' wraps from Trixon at that time.
