I'm selling my 1968 Ludwig Kit. I'm not exactly sure what model it is but I'm sure everyone here will figure it out.

I'm selling the cymbals separately.

PM me any questions.

Thanks,

Hey Botzi

Nice kit...

Do me a small favor, while you have the set listed, link to the web site you borrowed the graphics from...

It is just common courtesy to mention where you got them from..

your listing is very nice and you have a lot of photos and information, but the catalog pages came from the main web site that this forum is attached to.

Also the Ludwig Logo strip, that took me some time to make and scan all of those images, can you pull that off of the page and use this one below?...

Thanks a bunch

David

David,

No harm was intended.

For the record, I'm not sure that you (or anyone but Ludwig) can claim any kind of rights to those images considering that Ludwig owns Copyrights to them and/or they are public domain if older than 1938. The catalog images are just scans of Ludwig material and the Logos are obviously owned by Ludwig.

As far as "common courtesy" is concerned; If I were using the images for a permanent website I would have mentioned your site for sure. I didn't mention it simply because it's just an ebay auction that won't last long.

With that said, If what you want is a little marketing for your site, I can totally understand that and have no problems mentioning your site. Just please ask me without stating that I'm lacking courtesy or stealing graphics from you, because I'm not. I'll see if I can update the auction.

Botzi,

As a member of the forum for a while, I think you overstepped your bounds with David, who does this for little or no money, and who also is the Webmaster.

I think that you can use all graphics that you want on the web from other sites. I think the point that you are missing is that you used graphics that someone took the time to scan and put on a website for member and non-members to enjoy, and used them for your own services. In addition, you joined the forum also and plugged your sale on Ebay, looking for more traffic on vintage collectors.

I think what is being asked of you is fair, all David is asking is for lack of a better term, a "quid pro quo". You joined his website, used his graphics, plugged your own sale on his site, and then say he is accusing you of stealing? For the record, David stated that you "borrowed the graphics" , not in your words "stealing your graphics." As far as updating the auction, it can be done very easy, since you don't have any bids yet.

Cris, I would suggest that you learn not to "pee in the wind" and open up your wallet and donate a little to this site as a gesture of goodwill, if you haven't already.

I'm sure that David has the capability to handle this, but as a member of the forum I think that this needs to be said on behalf of myself, and anyone else who has contributed financially or grammatically.

BBK,

While I respect your opinion on the matter, I respect mine as well. I've been designing websites for 8 years. I know about online courtesy. If the content had been original and if I was using it on real website, then I would agree. But like I said, the main reason I didn't mention his site was because it is just an auction that will be over in a second. I had no idea that it would be an issue.

With that said, I agree that what David is asking for is fair. Like I said, I have no problem mentioning his site. I've been out all day but I plan to update the auction as soon as I'm done responding to you.

What I didn't find fair was the overall tone of the response and the implied statements such as lacking common courtesy and "borrowing", which can also be interpreted as "stealing", graphics, especially when the over all tone is negative. It was just a bit rude that's all. He could have PM'ed me or just brought it up with out the snares.

In regard to your suggestions: I'm not "****ing in the wind" nor am I going to donate money. To "Borrow" without permission is implied "Stealing" and for the record nobody is stealing anything. Ludwig puts out marketing material for people to use!!!! It promotes their product.

I have some suggestions too: I would suggest watermarking the images. However you never know, maybe Ludwig would get ****ed off if they knew somebody else water marked property???

I said that I would mention his site and that is what I intend to do. This matter was settled. There was no good reason for you butt into this matter BBK. So take your own advise and stop ****ing in the wind. Lame

Public forum, my friend. If you can't stand the heat, don't stay in the kitchen. Next time, try being a little less self absorbed......crying2-07

Well, I was trying to be nice... I could have just deleted the post.. No reason to PM either because I was also commenting on the nice Ludwig set.

So you are correct, it has been fixed and I want to keep it above the table so other visitors understand that it is a lot of work for me to put that stuff up. I do normally put the watermark on my stuff.

In regards to the Ludwig logos, I make no claim or sell that material, I do have the catalogs they came from which I scanned, cropped, outlined and put in the graphic.

I'm pretty laid back and always cordial and nice to visitors and posters, so if you took some hidden meaning behind my words, that was never intended.

I have been in these discussions before and I have made my case known many times here, so the members understand where I stand and they are just supporting the effort.

Also, I was looking at the page on your domain and not the Ebay auction. My images are used all of the time on Ebay with no credit or links.. I live with that.

Thanks again to the support from forum members!

I'm cool with things and do appreciate the links!

David
