Anyone have problems with Novus #3?

Loading...

Hello,

I used Novus on an old MIJ floor tom. I cleaned it, thoroughly and then used Novus #2 to really shine it and to be able to tell where the deeper scratches and blemishes were.

I then used Novus #3 (on the deep scratches only, not all over) and followed the instructions. When I went to buff it off, it was very difficult, and left a white, paste-y residue on the wrap. I went back over it with Novus #2 and the residue was still there! It looked like scuffs on the wrap. I then polished with Novus #1 and no dice. Still there.

I went back with Novus #2 and scrubbed the be-jesus out of the wrap (with my microfiber, non-scratching cloth, of course!), using right angles as well as a circular motion. That got rid of 95% of the remains of #3, but there are still a few minor spots that just look like scuffs that were NOT there before I started. They are minor and I am happy enough with the results, but still.

Has this happened to anyone else? Did I do something wrong? Please enlighten me!

Thanks,

V

you'll need to use #2 to cut through #3 to get it off the wrap. If you ever use #3 then you need to go in reverse #2 then #1 if needed. or you'll never get it off.

Had same thing happen first time I used 3...

It was on a BDP Powertone snare...I was PIZZED!

That's why most people just use 2......

Good idea. From now on, I'm not using Novus #3. Novus #2 is as high as I'll go.
