Star Fantasia Mod Complete

Loading...

Last I posted, I was debating over a center post tom mount or a consolette rail. I acquired this kit with a center hole and cap on the bass drum...

I went with a really beefy rail mount, although it meant drilling another hole in the shell, but it looks cooler...

And I added the cymbal mount on the bass drum as well, for that classic look. I also re-did the bearing edges (by hand) on all the drums and added four coats of lacquer to the snare, rack, and floor tom. The bass drum got a fresh coat of grey.

New heads are next, but I think it sounds a little snappier even with the old heads...

FYI: I saw bongos in that wrap on ebay, a year or so ago. I hadn't seen the wrap before, thought it might be a homemade modification to wrap and passed on it. I regret not bidding.

Yeah - a great choice of mount, for sure.

This wrap is a good example of the value of pearl in the wraps. Frankly, this strikes me as ugly and cool at the same time. The Pearl saves it, and from a distance (compared to up close) it totally looks cool. Without the pearl, it would simply be ugly in my honest opinion. The pearl totally makes it though.

Not dissing your kit, especially with what you have done with it - totally rad (child of the 70s/80s). That's "way hip!" (EDIT - and of course - as we all know, in person it would be striking compared to pics, that never do drums justice).

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

That's a really cool color! I like it. I don't think I've ever seen one like it. Rare and unique. Nice job on those. Enjoy them. Cool1 Crest on the bass head is a nice touch too.
