Are these for real do you think?
I saw these earlier on ebay. I wish they had sound files cuz I've always wondered how the Canadian K's sound compared to the Turkish.
In a way, they should sound like early Sabians right? :) After all, isn't that how Sabian got started, after the brothers had a falling out and the one running Canadian divisions, split to form Sabian? (that's what I heard anyway)
You are correct! Find a 1st Generation Sabian HH cymbal and you've got yourself the sound of the first North American K's. In my experience these cymbals have little in common with the final Old Ks from Istanbul. They are lower in pitch than an equivalent A.Zildjian due to the hand hammering but have non of the trash, stick tah, exotic wash or ride/crash abilities.

And they're all too heavy.
If those hats dont have the Canada stamp, how do you know they weren't made in Turkey?......marko
Got it. Thanks........marko

At the time they really weren’t advertised as being made in Canada. If you look at early 80’s Gretsch catalogs, you can see where they changed the wording to "Hand-made cymbals by craftsmen from Istanbul" vs. the 60’s catalogs that said “Made exclusively in Turkey.”
