Dating Sabian Cymbals

Loading...

Some time ago I happened to pick up a couple of Sabian cymbals (20" ride / 16" crash) with a kit that I purchased. I have no use for them so I'm going to be selling them locally (hopefully). I'm trying to determine their age as well as whether they're "budget" line cymbals or something else.

Any and all "words of wisdom" would be greatly appreciated since I'm not familiar with, nor have ever used, this particular brand.

THANKS!

Those are mid to late 80s. They are a student level cymbal. The chinas from that line were awesome sounding.

DANG, that is an early B8 stamp. Haven't seen one of those in a looooong time. I concur with the thoughts on those chinas. Nice aggressive sounds.

Any idea what would be a "reasonable" asking price for these individually or as a package deal?

Seriously seriously seriously cheap. That's the bottom line entry level line. You can get those new for low dough. Sorry. Not what you would want to hear.

If you want, I would trade you something for them. The cash value would be too low for you to mess with, I would think. Are you searching out anything?

THANKS for the honest response. Before receiving it I put the cymbals up on the local craigslist at a price of $70 for the pair. It looks like I need to adjust my price downward, based on your comments. I appreciate the opportunity of a possible trade but my guess is that the cost of shipping would probably outweigh the actual value of the cymbals themselves.

Yeah. I'm putting together an MIJ kit for my nephews and will be searching out a couple of old cheap cymbals for it. Thought I would do us a win-win if I could.

Do you think that $50 for the pair on my local craigslist would make sense or would that still be too high of an asking price in your opinion?

Thanks!

They might float for that. Give it a spin and see what pops. I would. Tough to beat 50 for a ride and a crash for a student.
