By the Tom and Bass drum badges this kit could be dated from 1968 through to late seventies from the knowledge i have, the brushed aluminium hi-fi you have there started production in 1968-69.

Late 60's on the whole set up.

Badge still has silver border on it that changed around '66.

Looks like mahogany shells. Late 60's

ps: serial numbers at Premier are meaningless. Shells could have been made in the 60's and added to a kit that was shipped out of the factory in 1972.

That could be a Reso Snare, does it have a lining inside, serial numbers didn't come until after the badge change, I think, no serial numbers on the previous badges

No lining in the snare, I have just had a drum collector come around home he said this kit is from the 70's & in very good condition. I have just replaced the 13" with Remo Vintage A heads & they are unreal, thanks for your reply.

Thanks for the reply, I have just had a vintage drum collector come around & he thinks they are from the 70s but does not know the wood type. I was told buy the seller that they are rosewood. How sure are you that these were made in the sixties, thanks again for the reply.

The brushed aluminium snare drum was introduced at exactly the same time as the premier 2000 model drum. The previous top flight metal drum had been the Hi-fi chrome plated brass shell 10 lug drum. It was de-moted to an 8 lug brushed aluminium shell in the late sixties so that more production costs could be ploughed into the highly popular 2000 range. As for the badge it was introduced aroun 68 and then used all the way through the 70's so an exact date is difficult for me to speculate.

Premier used 3-ply mahogany (not rosewood) shells between 1970-1975. Many of Keith Moon's kits were mahogany.
