I know where I shipped the drums. I have the receipt in my hand... And if you search eBay via location {nearest first}, you will see that all the names shown here used come up 1,000,000 away. Its possible they have multiple places they operate from. It was a guy that paid for the drums in NH. His name is John Lanteigne lives in Berlin NH.. In fact Ive sold many items to this addy. Heres what he looks like... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1ut_tSQJoc&feature=plcpI must agree as to the palm tree and cant explain that and thedrumpartscounter does charge tax in the state of Fla. I think we are talking multiple people here and locations. Possible vacation home? This guy is definitely in on it. I have looked at those shells now for almost a year now and they were even posted in here in the for sale section in July of last year.. They also strip trucks too.. .

I was not disputing what you were saying....I was merely pointing out that as far as Ebay is concerned, that seller is based in Florida not NH.

Obviously this guy is notoriously known amongst the vintage drum collector crowd, and he's doing his best to try and stay anonymous. Keeping his name out of any and all dealings on Ebay would serve him well, no?

Regarding Dans remarks.... I think the issue with the drum that was bought and then resold by these people was that they neglected to divulge crucial information that would directly effect the value of the drum. They were well aware and made a conscious decision to leave out information in order to make more of a profit . Personally, I have a problem with that kind of seller. I feel better knowing what and who I'm dealing with. So I think this kind of experience sharing is rather useful in our community.

Now the selling of parts from a drum that has not sold sounds innocent enough, but from what I have witnessed thats hardly the case. This guy strips perfectly good drums and at time RARE drums for profit which he has every right to do, but again, I like to know who and what I'm dealing with when I buy... I wont give a dime to anyone who has such a disregard for the instrument.

Lastly, I'm glad you had a few positive transactions with this person 10 or 20 years ago but we're are talking about how he's conducting business today .

He/they actually have the nerve to write in all their listings "when its a labour of love , its not work like work at all" . So am I to understand that they love destroying vintage drums ? Now thats perhaps the most honest piece of information in their listings. No thanks.

We've been following drum strippers on the Rogers Owners Forum for quite some time now and Jonas Aronson, and all of his alias's, is on the top of the list. We encourage all of our members to not do business with any of the drum strippers. Don't buy from them and don't sell to them. Boycott them!!!

I disagree with Dan Boucher:

"They strip a drum that isn't selling, opening the opportunity for folks with drums that have missing parts (and what drum doesn't?) and sell you that part at a price you agree to pay. Is that a problem?"

This has nothing to do with "a drum that isn't selling" this is about cold hard cash. These are greedy people who could care less about collectable, rare musical instruments and if we don't stop doing business with them it won't be long and there won't be any rare old Gibson guitars or great Rogers drumsets.

Don't buy from them, Don't sell to them!

Jack

I've read through most of these post and I'm a bit puzzled. Here are couple of the scenarios:1. You sell your drum on eBay for $300. Leecounty relists it at $600 and that's an issue. Why?

I assume you are referring to my post. I clearly stated the facts, and have NO ISSUE selling a drum for $300 and then seeing it resold for $600. Please re-read my post... I fully disclosed the repairs and the 're-seller' did not. That's the issue!

The drums were sold July of last year... There was nothing wrong with them. I included hardware too. HH and cymbal stands and a cymbal arm. I watched as the drums came apart and were pieced out. He bought them for 650 shipped and ended up with $1450 {so far}. Theres only a 22" bass {$195} and 16" floor left {$149}. He sold just the 18" floor for 499. Im not mad. He figured out how to profit from them when I couldnt. and they are his drums to do what he wishes. I have been asked by both Ga yle and John to sell other items I had listed but have declined.

Here she signs off as Ga yle. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GRETSCH-14-CATALINA-CLUB-FLOOR-TOM-in-NATURAL-LACQUER-for-DRUM-SET-LOT-K714-/300724991497?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item46049b3609

Good responses and I'm noting each with particular reference to "intent" to conseal condition. That isn't appropriate in any case and it appears I overlooked that in the earlier strings.

I took note of conditions relating to a set I sold a couple of years ago that I bought from the original owner. The chain of exchange seems to have lead to a description of the set that was significantly inaccurate. Again, the emphasis here is that it had apparently gone through a few hands and the description was getting skewed somewhere along the line. The person providing the final description and selling the drums for multiple times what I had sold them for may not have known its original condition, which seems to be different than what happened in the case posted here. In that case I was amazed at the price, but have to admit I didn't realize the actual value of what I had. That's nobody's problem but mine. On the other hand, it is unfortunate to pay a lot based on what was in reality misinformation. The backside is, the final receiver may have been so happy to get them that it didn't really matter.

Again, I will watch this carefully and consider all that has been said before proceeding with any future purchases from the noted vendors. Perhaps they should come on board here to explain/defend their actions given that it seems there is a good deal of disappointment with their business dealings.

Uh-oh! Didn't think the cloud could turn darker, but it seems to be doing just that. Shouldn't we try to be a little more civil even though some here strongly disagree with Lee's tactics?

Just a thought - Chris
