Pearl Snare

I was out looking into some yard sales for a snare stand for my Super Classics and found a Generic snare stand with a Pearl Export Metal snare on it. The seller wanted $20.00s for the snare and stand and for five more bucks he would throw in a Hi Hat stand with cymbals and a box of sticks. I took the offer. After looking thru the forum about a Pearl Export Snare I see they are your basic bottom of the barrel mit pearl snare drum(don't want to offend anyone here). I don,t even know if its vintage or not.

So for 25$ I found an excellant snare stand, and a snare I'am not familiar with. Can anyone fill me in on the snare? The cymbals were CamberII and I've already thrown those cymbals in the trash and the only thing I've seen on the Hi Hat stand was a trade mark with 6902-1 on it nothing else?

Tom,

I'm thinking it's mid/late 80's. The shell/badge is the same as my first Snare. My lugs have a ridge running vertically and my throw-off looks close, but instead of having a upsdie down "T" shape where the snare cord feeds in, mine is kinda tombstone shaped. Also, my throwoff lever has a rounded knob and isn't just a bent piece of metal. So it appears slightly older than mine, which was new around '91/'92... Which reminds me, I need to clean that drum up!

Aside from those Camber II HHs being obviously entry level, those are actually somewhat decent entry level hats. Those were the first HHs I ever had and they have a nice wash at least. Whenever I have had any Camber HHs run through my hands (those red label Camber II are the best ones of all the Cambers), I have always been surprised at how much people will pay for those. They will fetch at least $30 on the bay. $30 is $30 more than you had to start with, and that will pay for your snare and stand.....cool!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Drummerjohn33 I just read your info about the Camber II cymbals made in Germany.

I pulled them from the trash can before they were picked up. From the research I did on them they were not well thought of at all. It sounded like these cymbals were really trash.

I did listen to them before I trashed them and they sounded ok but nowhere near the sound of decent cymbals. They are to large for me though, but I,ll keep them. They are not cracked so maybe I,ll use them for practice or give them to a neighborhood kid.

Anyway I appreciate the info, you saved two cymbals. I,ll take pictures and put them on this post.

Here is the pictures of the Camber II made in Germany cymbals. As you can see they are not Hi-Hat cymbals. I missed the 16" crash somehow, beats me how though. In to much of a hurry I guess or just old age.

Anyway I also notice they are flat on the edge and thats probably why these are entry level cymbals, although some expensive ones have ripples for more effect. Below is the cymbals.

btw, you are not Hallucinating I removed the first post.

Good thing that you saved them.Cool1

No, they are not very good cymbals but any young kid that just got his first kit will be more than happy to get these, as they are a lot better than the crap that is shipped with new kits today.
