It would have been better to have the same recording circumstances for a better idea..

But..

#2 rang my bell more..

#1 went to a cymbalholic this week..and is really good...but a little light to my ears..

But in person..

I'll bet the both of these in the right hands..

Are magic...

I'd like to run a poll to find out which of these 2 old stamp K's you prefer. Both are 22's, and both are exactly the same trademark vintage. The only difference is that first one weighs 2348g and the second weighs 2591g.Click on these links:22" Istanbuk K type IIIa OS #122" Istanbuk K type IIIa OS #2Vote for which one you like best, and why you prefer your choice.

Comparing sound clips is difficult since the environment, mics, sticks, recording EQ, and of course the player all affect the outcome. Additionally, the first clip is being played within the context of a drum set and the second is solo. But having said that, I liked the first clip better.

I preferred the sticking, the wash and the bell sound. It felt more relaxed and musical, the second sounded more more metallic and harsh, but only in comparison to the first one. However, the first clip seemed to have been recorded in a more lively space so if the second cymbal had been identically recorded my preference could be different.

I voted for #2...I like the bright bell, articulate stick definition, crashability and gentle fading wash...I tend to like rides on the heavier side...

Cheers

I voted for one because of how it sounded with the other drums in the mix. Also had a dark sound that i tend to prefer. I'd like to hear #2 with the same drum set up though!

# 1 by quite a margin but that might also be related to the recording . I liked the separation between stick and wash. #2 had a degree of muddiness, especially when pushed.

I realy like 1. a clean direct sound. the wash didn't cover the stick. #2 had a little to much going on for me. My brain can't handle all those complexities. All I hear is a din.
