From ElMoonlightDrummer

Hey Stef...I measured the footprint on my '63 consolette and it is just under 4", like 3 15/16" or so. This one has the feet with 4 screws that we are all probably used to. I also measured the footprint on my '58 and it is 4 7/16" or so. This one is the older style one with 2 screws and no feet. Oh...and on a good note...I might have some spare consolette parts for you...let me see what I can dig up. I for sure have the hot dog with feet on it and the L arm. Let me see if I can find the other piece and it'll be on the plane with me next week!

Woaaah,... thanks for checking Aaron !

Those inches are totally freaking me out so when I'm back home I'll measure the ones that I got and do the conversion from metric to that "thing" you guys are using,...

The holes will be plugged anyway so I guess any size will do but something period-correct would be great of course.

Don't stress out because in the mean time a forum member made me a good deal. I love this place !

And now,..... off to the studio,.... band practice time !!!!!!

HA! You crazy Euro's and your simple metric system...why can't you have a complicated measurement system like Americans do?!? I guess we just like to do things the hard way and then brag once we do them!

I saw the consolette you picked up...good score! How perfect was the timing (and price) on that? Glad you scored on it.

Little update,...

The BD and rack tom shells are about ready to re-wrap.

A thorough sanding on the outside and they're ready to go,...

The floor tom should arrive to Belgium by the end of next week, same as the T-rods, claws and rail consolette.

I'll keep you guys posted on the progress.

By the way,... the 15"X12" floor tom is missing the base ball bat muffler and has the later Ludwig brackets/legs installed in stead of the straight ones.

PM me if you have some.

Thanks

Stef

wow you are almost done with your second set, I just started on mine.

I have the advantage of knowing exactly happend to my set because I did it! (almost 20 years ago)

Modular hardware... on a clubdate! thats right, big a$$ 1" holes drilled into the bass and tom. my floortom fared much better with just extra holes to fit later ludwig leg brackets. the bass drum also had gibraltar folding/ telescoping spurs put on it, which I misplaced the first time!

I was about 15-16 years old, got the shells for 40 bucks, and needed a "playable" set. so there I was with a drill and hole-saw, putting the heaviest mounting hardware known to man on the most minimal drums ever created, I still feel sick when I think about it.crying2-07

I will be doing a thread on my set as well. here is a pic of the big hole.
