Rogers Holiday Kit in Wine Red Ripple Pearl

Loading...

SOLD!

This is a very rare Rogers kit in wine red ripple pearl. It is a Dayton era Holiday kit with beavertail lugs and a matching Powertone snare. Based on the serial numbers, this is one was most likely made in 1967. It is in excellent condition. The wrap has very few scratches and no cracks, the chrome has very little corrosion, and the interior paint is excellent. All of the heads appear to be original, except for the snare drum batter head. The sizes and serial numbers are:

5x14 Powertone snare: 15361

9x13 tom: 77543

16x16 floor tom: 77662

14x22 bass drum: 71035

There are very few problems with this kit, but the few I found are:

Each bass drum hoop had a crack in the inlay where it was nailed down. About 1/4" of material was lost on each hoop and the inlays were tacked back down with the original nails. This is shown in the pictures, but both of these areas are covered by the claws.

The tension rods on the rack toms appear to have been replaced with Ludwig style rods.

There is some corrosion on a few of the claws and rods on the bass drum. This is fairly minor. There are also tiny pits on most of the other lugs on the kit.

The wingnut on the cymbal arm is missing, there is just a hex nut in it's place.

Three interior screws appear to be replacements (1 in the rack tom and 2 in the snare). The interior screws and nuts in the bass drum have some corrosion.

The wrap is in very good condition overall, but there are a few scratches on the toms and bass drum.
This kit will be sold to the highest bidder, but to give you a reference I'll be looking for at least $2500 plus shipping. Some preference will be given to buyers who can pick it up. I've taken a lot of pictures and a video to give you as much info as possible, but I'll be happy to answer any questions that you have. Please PM me with offers or questions.

BTW, the snare stand and pedal pictured are included. I didn't clean them at all, so if you like restoring stuff, there's something left for you!

Shirley, you jest!

Make no mistake about it, that 22" Cle. Rogers bass drum is as manly as it gets.

I'm considering an ebay listing for this kit, so if anyone else has interest, please let me know before I do that.

I'd put it ebay, but it doesn't seem like anything is selling for big bucks these days.
