Standard Premier 1980's snare, good snare. nothing really special about it, just a good solid drum.

FWIW- This drum has a black (no name) Hyd. batter & a clear "attack" snare side- Any recomonded heads for this drum?

What are you guy's using?

A lot of metal snares do not have any kind of muffler (tone control) installed, some do. I always hated that ringy-tin can sound a lot of metal snares have. I tried all kinds of ways to kill that sound. Felt, ductape, moongel, chewing gum, etc.

Then as a fluke, because they were cheap, I bought 2 on Ebay for $20. A Remo Cybermax head. Yup a marching head. This thing has a woven type of fabric (could even be mylar woven mesh for all I know) fused to a plastic/mylar head.

That awful ringing sound is GONE! I can tune this high to get a nice pop and crack and low to get a low wet slap. It takes a few tunings and experimenting to get the feel of the head but, I'll tell ya, I love it!

This drum has no muffler, So .....i'm gonna try that head you discribed, and try it out.

BTY-Any types of resonant head choices?

Not really, to me a Res is a Res. There really isn't much difference. Wires are important, use wires that suit the width of your snare bed. I've seen guys put the wide 42 strand on a drum with an narrow bed and wonder why there is so much buzz. The wires don't lay flat.

My plan is to get the widest snare that will fit the drum (looking for a unique sound)

Are there any snare springs that you guy's would recomend?--(different metals)

Still waiting on the cybermax head (hard to find)
