help identify my acrylic bar find

Loading...

so, i met a guy playing the house gig at a bar last weekend. we start talking drums and me being an acrylic guy i brought up the subject. he replied he had an old red vista set in parts. this weekend he pulls in with them in the back of his truck and gave them to me flat out for doing lights. very cool of him. only problem i have now is that neither of us know exactly what they are for sure. they were sold to him as ludwigs over 30 years ago. only thing i have found close was a lime green set i was looking at on ebay a couple weeks ago. but they have different mounts/spurs/tone controls than mine do. the shells are really thin and have a reinforcement strip at the seam like the newer ludwig vistas. the hoops are stamped tiawan. ive seen the spurs and lugs before but cant remember where. im hoping you guys can help me out here...

as you can see these are a bit different but do have similarity.

This kit, your new reds, are from the Pearl Taiwanese plant and should sound pretty sweet once restored. Those lime greens are from the same plant, only a couple of years earlier. The green ones are NOT Luds at all.

Well sir, the green-meanies are from about 68-72, yours would be 73-76ish?? As for the snare, it likely would have shipped with one of the most under-rated snares of all time. Pearl, in the late 60s to early-mid 70s made a few types of metal snares, some of which were chrome over brass and are amazing sounding drums, 2 models in particular, the Jupiter, with parallel strainer and the standard COB were/are highly sought after. The Jupiter runs around 75-300, the other for a pittance, usually 50 or less, usually less because most people consider it nothing more than an entry level drum when in fact, properly tuned, it will more than get the job done for many styles of music and all levels of players.
