Outland drums,What are they?

Loading...

It's been a while since I last posted in this forum. I purchased this set of Outland drums a year ago but I can not find ANY information as to what they are ,where or when they were made / came from.

If you know anything about them please get a message to me.

My email is jagsound@gmail.com

Thanks

Ken

They look like sections of waterpark slides.

What do they sound like?

You must already know everything that Google has to offer. Outland drums, European,(France ?), 1970-80's. There's another drummer out there asking the same questions about his "Leopard skin" set that came w/ custom made cases.

French, huh? That's interesting because that badge kind of has the same aesthetic look to it that I've seen on drums made in Belgium....and that would be in the same ballpark. Hmmm.....

Yeah and definitely a mid-70's-ish era, too. That seems to be a period of time when drums went crazy for a few moments! North, Staccato and now these!

Try to find road cases for them! HAHAHA!Excited

I think those were a Staccato-type clone from Australia, back in tne '80s. I saw them at NAMM, and their literature was just a few 4x6 photos in an envelope or folder or something. One year was it, never saw them again.

Forgive me: these drums are outstanding ... ugly.

A floor tom with a 'bended round the corner' shell! Hurting

Could be a one-of-a-kind (or prototype) set.

I couldn't see any drums in your pix, but the shot of the badge came out.---- You must live in a really lush and fertile area because I have never seen flowers anything like those ones growing in your garden. They look something like giant Jack-in-the-Pulpits or Pitcher Plants. wow

Bermuda, Is right on some things yes these were at the NAMM show if i recall right it was 1982 or3..They were somewhat copys of North drums that were made in the U.S...Iam trying to recall right but i think these drums were made in Australia and the name was a play on {OutBack} this is were the name come froms Outland...These shells were Fiberglass with no lugs,as you can see where the lugs should be you see a ring of F/G made into the shell this was drilled for holes for the T-rods inserts to go into..So no lugs are on the shells...Yes one year these drums were at the NAMM show and gone the next like many things you see at the NAMM shows.I have been to every NAMM show from 1980 to 2012....Mikey

Whatever they are, I so wish I had a house big enough to have them on permanent display!
