Newbie cymbal question

Hello everyone.

I am new here and I know from other forums, most people do not like newbies asking questions about the worth of there equipment.

Yeah, I know bad start already!! Anyhow, I was diggin though my old cymbals at my parents house the other day and came across my old hi-hats.

They are 14" made in Istanbul, Turkey. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how old they might be and what they might be worth. I looked on ebay to try to compare, but I didn't find anything close. So, if you wouldn't mind helping me out, I would appreciate it.

Those are new stamps. Probably later 1960's. Worth around $500 - $700.

Wow, that's cool. I would have never guess they could be woth that much. I'm gonna weigh them at work today.

Well, I can only weigh down to .76 and .78 KG. So I imagine there is some guessing to the remaining grams.

My buddy put them on ebay and they sold for $550.00 That's more than I expected. Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it!! Virtual beers for allCool1

Buy offering them with a "buy it now" set at $550, your buddy didn't play it very smart with his auction.

He should have run a regular 7 day auction with no reserve and let those hats find their own price level. But by doing it the way that he did, he pigeon-holed himself into taking the low end value. All indications were that those cymbals could have gone up to the $700 mark.

I wasn't trying to be greedy. Those cymbals sat for a long time and I thought I did well. I know I got more than my money's worth out of them. So let someone else enjoy them at a fair market price. Actually I would have been happy with less, but that's just me I guess.
