Latest Slingy Project

Well, what did you decide to do??? We're waiting.........

For the time being, I'm going to leave the shells in their "as is" condition. I'll be replacing all the hardware, including the original badges and then applying the WWII-era "bomber" pin-up waterslide images to the shells. The bass drum head (smooth white) will have the Slinsgerland logo on it with the pic of my parents taken in a club during the WWII-era.

Perhaps sometime down the road I'll refinish all the shells but right now it's not in my plans. I'll provide some pics once the project progresses.

I meant to say that I'll be re-installing all the hardware, including the original badges, NOT "replacing" them.

Another "senior moment", no doubt!DOH

LOL, I can remember plenty of stuff I did 20 - 30 yrs ago, but I cant remember last week. I think that when we get old, our brains get full and dont have any more room for new memories.. Sometimes I even look at some of my old threads I started on here to remember what I did to restore something!

I just hope that I remember to finish this little project of mine!LoLoLoLo

Well, the "bomber girl project" is over. I finally got done what I originally intended to do with this one. I completed it on Father's Day which was quite appropriate because I was putting this one together in honor and memory of my late dad who supported me from the first day I picked up a pair of drumsticks, despite the fact that I never turned into much of a "polished performer". It should be a fun player's kit for those VFW, American Legion and K of C "gigs" we old geezers always enjoy playing. I think the vets are going to have some fun when they see this one!

Thanks to kevins for allowing me to use his grommet tool to re-install all the original badges on the shells. I appreciate your help, your advice and your friendship!

I've attached several pics of the kit. The first two show it with the 12 and 13 inch rack toms mounted. The next two show the 13 and 14 inch toms. I didn't take any pics with all three rack toms mounted in the "Avante" configuration since the other arm I needed to do so was in another location on one of my other Slingy kits. The final pic is a close-up of the 24" bass drum. Although I've got all the original matching Slingerland hi-hat and cymbal stands you don't see them in the pics. I just used the ones that were already set-up in our practice studio.
