I know this isn't a vintage question but maybe you guys can help. I'm going to the Chicago drum show and I want to get some solid white drum heads with no logos on them for autographs. Everything I find has a logo on it. I'm wanting those ones that come on the cheap drum sets.
Plain drum heads
I share your pain, and your question actually is vintage related as many of us want original logo heads (Ludwig, Rogers, Slingerland, etc) on our vintage kits. I used to special order coated Remo heads with no logos and then apply a Rogers logo with a rubber stamp which a local printing shop custom made for me. It was working great until I was told Remo no longer makes the logoless heads.
Cooperman Drum, maker of fine rope drums, has various heads available without logos, as the drummers in fife and drum corps want their drums and heads looking period-accurate. You might want to look at their web site but be prepared to pay premium prices for their high quality products (great gut snares available that fit Ludwig P-83 strainers).
Another source is Jack Lawton in Pennsylvania. I've bought some amazing reproduction Ludwig and Rogers heads from him that are flawless, but he wouldn't tell me how he got the original Remo logo off a coated head.
Easiest thing to do would buy a smooth white head and just remove the logo with acetone.
Good luck.
