I've been corresponding with a specialist in the drum world John Aldridge of "Not So Modern Drummer" and he said that I have an extremely early model "Black Beauty." He said that it was made in a pre catalog time era and very rare (having no name in the scroll work and only 6 lugs). He suggested I keep it but I really need to sell it. If anyone is interested I might take some offers. I could certainly take better pictures and send them to anyone that would like a better look. John graded the snare from good to very good condition. It also comes with a very old case (possibly the original).

Ludwig had engraved snare drums in the late teens, I own one. Got it when the widow of the player brought it into Drum Headquarters. They contacted me. Her late husband got it in 1918, and she had pictures with him and the drum from then.

Does yours have the long tube lugs like this one ? The one`s Mike C. has and the one`s in the cat, no matter the depth, have the posts mounted near the crimp and much shorter tube lugs.

Just a small observation !!
