Resale prices on Yamaha

Loading...

Is it me, or are the resale values of Yamahas quite low these days? I'm not really referring to vintage necessarily, but even modern maple or birth yammies. Im selling a Yamaha kit, and the going prices are not so good, yet if purchased new...quite expensive. Just an observation...but curious as to why...andif other cuurent brands have experienced the same thing.

Seems the resale value is much lower on all the Asian imports these days, not just Yamaha. This is what happens when you flood the marketplace though.....I've noticed "new" Gretsch, DW, and Ludwig all have a higher re-sale than the "big three" do.

Interesting. They are still great drums, no doubt. I still love the sound and look of MCAs. I'm thinking there has been a shift towards American vintage sounds more recently. Perhaps patriotism or nostalgia factors in. Back in the 80s or even 90s, the sound of the 60s was not as "distant" as it is now...it's almost like a certain time needed to elapse for that trend to happen.

Now cymbals are a different story...you still gave guys like me trying to grab up sweet old As and Ks, but there are so many great cymbals being made now...always been a Zildjian guy, but man I love some of that Istanbul Agop. I digress....
