As my knowledge about Droyyn drum is very limited, all I can say is, -very nice and interesting page Yes Sir. Makes me want one of those snares myself :D

i played in a boys marching band in adelaide, the adelaide college of music drum and trumpet band, formely a drum and fife band. we all played drouyn snare drums, simple 14''x5''wooden. six luggers. i posted a pic long ago on this thread. i play a monster premier cow, but this little six lugger match's it pound for pound, i can only guess its the wood? oddly my drum is missing the badge as others where, as many as had badges.has hayman snare wires.

Paul, It's a great thing you are doing in trying to document some the Drouyn history. There's some knowledge of the history around, but trying to do the detective work and get into some consolidated form is a big task, but an admirable one.

The early view of the Ludwig link does from your research appear (in my opinon) dispproved. My limited knowledge, based on my ownership of a Dandy Kit, and it's design would suggest links to different manufacturers and in many ways independence from other drum companies. The lugs on the kit I have (at least the tom and snare) look to be either Premier (from the 30's 40's) or close copies/inspiration at least.

Trout, that is a really nice site, so appealing I looked all through it, clear and "simple" - probably wasn't to build.

Which builder did you use? I've been slugging away with Dreamweaver but it is too complicated for what I need.

The rest of the site is in progress but I felt the need to get the Drouyn stuff going ASAP. It was a big job!

I have a fair bit of experience with Dreamweaver. I would only use it now for a custom site. I knew the drum site would be a lot of work, so I did quite a few test runs. Finally I started with a subscription to Photobucket, although you don't really need to pay; I thought I would use the FTP but instead I use the iPhoto export plugin. So all the images are offsite. Then for the site itself I used Wordpress. It installs really easily, but you do need hosting where you can create a database. But after that, it's really good. All you need is about 5 plugins and they are very easy to install. It's never going to be super groovy but it works and looks good on all devices. I use HostSo and it's something like $12 a year for 200gb - silly really. If I can help further please let me know.
