Broadway John Grey - lovely wrap!

Hi - got hold of this lovely old Broadway snare from John Grey at a bargan price because the fragile- looking throw type lever was supplied, but had broke, so I fitted a modern one (without excessive damage, you'll be pleased to know!). The snare sounds great, and I just thought I'd post it here because I like the wrap.

Looking at the throw, I can't think how it worked, does anyone know?

hey i looked at that snare too !

you got that for next to nothing.

It's a nice drum isnt it?, a friend of mine has a john grey kit with that same snare and it sounds lovely.

Yes, it does have a nice sound and I'm a sucker for Oyster wrap!

It was a bargain, got lucky there!

Bet there's not too many full kits around!

Ive got a john grey autocrat snare 14x4 in red pearl and it wipes the floor with some of the modern stuff ive collected, its the EXTREME snare beds they cut into the shell. Nice drum - well done!

I picked one up like this but in black pearl, looks great. I posted pix of John Grey throws in a want ad here, does the throw look like any of those? I do have more pix of throws not posted.

Do you still have the old broken throw?
