Ludwig marching snares

Loading...

Picked these up today for 20.00. Six ply maple shells, b/o pointy badge. Thought they needed to be rescued. I will be needing some parts for these so if you see something that I need and you will part with send a pm please. Not sure why I got them, just hought they were cool plus they came with a Paiste cymbal and a cool concert size snare drum stand and various drum heads. Also got a bass drum head that I dont know what to do with, think its a 24 or 26". didnt even look at it yet.

Well I started on one shell, it has several small dents and has some pitting. I sarted out by wipping the shell down with lacquer thinner to clean the grime off of it. Then I used some metal polish to get the shine back. I am wondering if a buffer would be of help. The dents are not ever going away but wonder if anything can be done with the tiny scrathes. Over all, it is nice and shinney and I can live with the dents and scrathes, I just wonder if I have done enough or try the buffer idea. Any thoughts?

Good morning Tom, yes they are 15", 12 deep. The cymbal is one of those like you say, "something to hit" ones. Here is a pic and the other stuff that came with it. Anyine need a 24" concert bass drum head?

Jeff,

Sorry I didn't get your email about the snares answered yesterday. And, wouldn't you know, when I get some time I'm not a home to answer direct.

But, anyway, based upon the picture you sent in the email and the one on the thread, I don't think that particular snare wire is Ludwig, at least the versions/models/years I'm familiar with. So, I'm not going to be much help on this one.

Maybe someone else has seen one like it.

Sorry,

Bill

I have not yet replaced a snare wire on this kind of drum. I removed two screws with allen heads thinking this is how you remove them. I found out right away that the wires can be removed with the small bar clamps still attached. Is this how the snare wires are sold? with the small metal bars clamped over them? Are they still available?

Thanks,

Jeff C

Started to clean up the drums. I will be combining the parts from the two drums to make one good one. Pics on the way.
