Yellow Duck Feet Kit?

Loading...

Hey Gang;

Got another MIJ, I.D. mystery for you. Picked this one up cheap last week - several MIJ orphans, and a matching 4 piece, all sprayed an automotive, metallic teal. Actually not too bad a spray job, but obviously not good for a proper restore. Not bad looking 3 ply with re-rings, but with lugs and hardware that I'm unfamiliar with. Accommodates Pearl t-rods so it's probably on that side of the fence. Consolette also is a straight bar, not bowed. And of course there are those 'yellow duck feet' spurs...

Prior owner installed a supplementary tom mount, drilling the kick drum of course, but it got me thinking - maybe this would be a good candidate for a 'Renown 57' inspired treatment... will get back to you on that one, but an I.D. would be great in the meantime. Anyone?

Ok, On to your set.Its a made by Star in the late 60's.They used this lug on about 40 name's of sets that they made.So i can't give you a name of your set.The added tom mount is a Pearl late 60's..To bad they drilled for the tom mount they added.I have the right tome mount for that set.The T-rods on the bass drum are copys of 60's Trixon made drums but these are not metric threaded rods like Trixon was.These are 12/24 threaded rods.The lugs are one type of copys of Gretsch lugs....Mikey

Thanks Mikey - you sure they'd be Star? Figured they'd use a standard thread for t-rods, even on different models, wouldn't you think? Still hoping to get some pics of those tom mounts, (Pearl, and Star) from you when you get a chance. Thanks.

Mikey knows all sees all. If he says they are Star, that's where I'd lay my money.

Iam pretty sure thats a Star made set.But from very very late 1969.Its my understanding that at that year and after Star went to the 12/24 threads on the T-rods.I have some of these T-rods the copys of the Trixon like your and the threads are 12/24..I have also seen many Star made sets from after 1970 that had all 12/24 threads T-rods on all drums..I have also seen very late 1969 and 1970 sets that had have a mix of the T-rods odd metric and 12/24...Oh i will get the photos to you this weekend i have a new computer now....Mikey
