1966 Slingerland 14x10 snare to 5.5" conversion help

Loading...

Hello VDF

I have a 1966 Slingerland WMP 14x10 snare that I cut down to 5.5" and need some advice.

I want to drill the least amount of holes... But the lugs will be uneven. (see pic) If I used the existing hole the lug is a little high. If I center the lug I have to fill the tom lug holes and drill two new holes VERY close to the existing ones. Is it a problem if the are not centered? Help2

Or maybe I used tom lugs and get the buddy rich zoomatic look going...

Also I went to Home depot to look at stains and found myself staring at large wall of many many colors... do i just get the "natural" one? I re did both edges and the natural wood is showing. (haven't glued the rings yet) Help2

Thanks for any help

Here is a few things you can do.I have cut many of these snares down over the years. The problem you are having is that the drum on tom lugs on it.Two ways you can go to fix the spacing problem. One is used the tom lugs side by side next to each other,or they to fine some smaller snare drum lugs that will fit the holes of the tom lugs....Mikey
