Loading...

RK, Capri Pearl w/ lots of gold strands, Chicago badge , c.1960. Has reproduction strainer handle. This snare is part of a "Gene Krupa Deluxe Ensemble", 22,13,16, snare. My favorite kit, I let friends use it for special performances by request.

Very nice! That handle is a little different than the repros I've seen. Who makes it? How well does it work? Jim Petty should be sending one of his to me within a month, but I'm still curious.

Thanks,

Lynn

I must have bought the handle over 10 years ago, & can't remember a thing, except it was the first generation of reproductions($15). It's solid metal & stronger than the original.

I'm sure it is! Looks to be a little thicker than 1/16" to me. ;)

Again, very nice!

Hard to find finish!

I used to run a ad every day in the local paper 15-18 years ago wanting to buy old drums...

A lady called me from around 30 miles away saying she had a Slingerland kit for sale.

We went out there, and it was a 20,12,14 Capri kit with matching SOLID MAPLE 5-1/2 by 14 snare with 3 point strainer! I recall stands and Zildjians too. Seems like I paid $400-500 for all!

I was selling lots of stuff to Harbins Srih in London, England then,so I told him about the kit,and I think he bought it within a week of me getting it..

I did keep the snare off it though, which I had for quite a while....then sold that.

There are 2 versions of that finish..1 busy,1 not so busy..think mine were the busy finish.

I've seen other Capri pearls w/ much less gold. The Clamshell strainer is beautiful, but I would rather have a good 3 point.
