Has anyone here used one of these?

There's this one for $45

OR

This one for $9.

Would this work as well as the $45 one I wonder?

I have been restoring/building drums for years, but just this year got one of these mats. I thought I was pretty good at lay outs, but this thing makes it go so much faster and more consistently precise. As a matter of fact, I layed out two floor toms today and it was a breeze.

It really is a must have.

Very good guys.....

Thanks for the feedback.

It's $17 to mail it to Canada.....only $5 in the USA. But I live with this all the time. The extra $12 is okay....there will be $8 or so tax at this end so the item will cost me about $70 by the time it gets to my home. I think the that money will be well spent by the sounds of it.

I just found this...........anyone here used this..........it's free - well sort of.

You have to get a printing shop to print it 24x14 but if it's a good drum mat the price is right.

The DF layout mat works well and is well made. I use it on every drum I build (25+ so far) and it helps keep the lug locations correct.

By all reports it sounds like the way to go.

I'm wondering if the "free" one from Drummaker - the ones (17" and 14") you have to have a printshop print for you are just as good? They only cost what is will cost you to have it printed out.

What do you think by the looks of them? You have to go to the link above in my post and download (it's a pdf file on that page) it to look. I printed both out - the seem to look good. Mayby the Drum Foundry one is more detailed and that is the one to buy though. But if the Drummaker one is just as good I could be looking at around $20 as opposed to abouit $70 by the time the DF one gets to me here in Canada.

Kona if you have a Staples in your area they might be cheaper than the print shop. A nice thing too would be to get it laminated to help preserve it as well.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I thought about it and 'caved' - went to the DrumFoundry site and TRIED for the last 1/2 hour or more to buy the mat = NO LUCK. I have an account with them that's validated - all good there. But, when I choose the PayPal link on their site to continue checking out I get kicked back into the DrumFoundry site and to a profile page that looks like mine...same name same email address - everything's the same except it's putting me as a USA Miltiary site (for country) and I can't get by the screen. I logged out and back in to check my profile and it's all good everything is where it should be I live in Canada and my shipping address is the right one. SO, I go back in and tried to checkout using the Credit Card I registered with...........guess what...I'm kicked back in the the USA Military address page and I can't buy the mat. Maybe the Gods are telling me to "go the cheaper route Gary" haha.

I sent DF and email and I even tried to call them today but they're not open right now. Be interesting to see what they say about what's happening when I try to check out.
