Can i remove gaskets from under the tube lugs?

Like Purdie said, the gaskets are isolators that prevent buzz/vibrations and help keep fasteners tight because it`s real easy to crossthread the tap. Home depot has a wide variety of nylon washers in variable thickness, look around, your in no hurry and get some paper thin ones. Bring one of yours with you and you`ll prolly spend less than five bucks !!

You can find some "paper thin" plastic gaskets (insulators) at an electronics supply house.

That's exactly along the same line I was thinking, too -maybe some of those little cloth O's used to reinforce ring binders?? Something that doesn't show.
