When did ZBT's become vintage and pricey?

Loading...

I have informed sellers of their incorrect listings in the past, but get mostly negative responses. Therefore, I choose to share this "RARE VINTAGE ZILDJIAN" with you fine people. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks to be a ZBT and I wouldn't pay more than $40 for it if I was feeling generous.

It happens under two circumstances:

1- ignorance; Seller has no idea what they actually have and base their info on ebay listings for entirely different vintage and models of Zildjian cymbals. (Also Happens pretty commonly for instance when sellers list non trans stamps as trans stamps having no idea what the characteristics of trans stamps actually are. Or "block stamps" or "big stamps" etc)

2- misrepresentation; Seller knows full well what it is and is trying to make it look like something more valuable.

You're very right! I tend to look for the good in people, but I truly believe that most of these erroneous listings are people who think they have found a treasure and just don't know that it really isn't. I hope this is the case and that no one else gets taken by this cymbal.

This cymbal has obviously been buried in a compost heap for several years, which any knowledgeable player knows, will affect a cymbal the way aging affects a fine wine. This makes it worth more than the MSRP.

If you look as the seller's other items, You will notice that they put no effort whatsoever into accurately describing musical instruments. A broken down Harmony tenor banjo is dated to the 1800's.

oooo so that means my marinated, temp shocked and inverted ZBT splash must be worth some bucks!

Guess I shouldn't have given it away.

Frankly I wouldn't pay a penny for it. The seller would have to ship it to me for free and I would give it to a deserving 10 yr old as a starter cymbal.

15 years ago, we were saying this about Amir and 404. 8 years ago about Scimitar, Edge, and 502. Who knows- you let a drum product age for enough time and people start mistaking it for vintage when in fact it's just OLD. Case in point: Kent drums. There was a set of Kents on eBay for the longest time for $900. Because they're old and made in America.

You think "vintage ZBT" is bad? Just imagine how bad you'll feel in a decade or two when people are listing "vintage PDP" and "vintage Ddrum".
