Question about M.I.J. 60's snare drums

Just a up date on the snare.I got the drum all apart. The shell is 7 ply with out rings. The cool thing is that the B.P.D. wrap is so clean even under the lugs it looks new.I have many photos of the drum. The drum is not a rewrapped drum.I odd thing is that the T-rods are thin thread odd metric ones i have never seen before...So i guess it's a new odd threaded T-rods that came out in the 60's..I will be emailing you F.W. some photos of the drum before cleaning and after cleaning...Mikey

Great! Sounds like you're pleased. Can't wait for those photos. Sounds like my Pearl 7-ply Luan and very warm.

Mikey777 - I just picked up a Stewart in the same wrap. I am toying with the idea of taking it apart to use for another MIJ snare I am working on.

The pics attached are from the eBay listing and apparently before they did some cleaning.

I would guess that the plys on your snare are 3 to 5 ply.The snare i have is a 7 ply shell with out rings..If you need any of these badges i have them to.....Mikey

The 10 lug late '60's mij snares are quite rare. I would keep it togehter. Parts are readily available from many sources. Something to think about Mind Blowi

DOH

Sorry guys! I should have read the beginning of the thread better. Mine is only an 8 lug. :(

I was searching the forum for info on Stewart drums and this thread came up.

For what it's worth, it's supposedly 5.5 x 14 (haven't verified it yet) and it has a stamp on the inside of the shell, it looks like ES or LS in a diamond.
