LUDWIG B/O Badges Serial #'s

Can someone tell me what is the most accurate Serial # Dating guide for Blue and Olive Badge Ludwigs. I'm getting different stories from people.

Example If you have a Drum with a Serial # 825467 What year do you think it would. Or 1557868. What year would that be.

Let me know.

The B/O badge dating info shown here and other places on the 'net shows 1969 through 1972 production by individual year, then shows 1976 using badges 917xxx through 1290xxx.

I take this to mean that 1973 started somewhere around 917xxx and 1976 ended about 1290xxx, with no information on 1973, '74 or '75.

Doing the math, and assuming equal production for the period, I came up with these ranges for starting serial numbers by year:

1973 917000

1974 1010250

1975 1103500

1976 1196750

1977 1290000

This is just a guestimate, but I haven't seen anything better yet.

My kit:
Ludwig Vistalite Big Beat set consisting of:
14” X 22” bass, 16” X 16” floor tom, 8” X 12” ride tom, 9” X 13” ride tom, 5” X 14” snare

See I thought 1976 Started 917xxx and ended 1290xxx. I have a Ludwig kit I put together. All the shells are 6ply and the serials range from 173xxxx, 195xxx, 219xxxx, 302xxxx. I thought 2 of then where late 70's and the other 2 where early to mid 80's. Now I don't know.

I have what I thought to be a 1976 Ludwig due to the serial numbers. I posted a few pics on here awhile back and the fellas feel that it is an early 70's, from 70 to about 73. The reasoning is that 76 started the 6 ply shells and had a different type of spray coating inside the drum. Mine are 3 ply maple shells with a clear laquer. If i remember right, these years just show XXXXXX and the guys said that there were a few years that Ludwig got the numbers out of order.
