GRETSCH 50's 3ply 22" bass drum

See last post by me regarding how this all turned out

I'm looking for a 50's 3ply bass drum 22"

Shell has to be in very good shape - with no extra holes

Includes the original 3ply hoops with the inlay grooves the original hardware and badge.

The finish does not have to be intact if it's wrapped but the outer ply has to be of a quality that it would be suitable to paint. The drum is NOT going to be wrapped.

I'm not interested in buying an expensive complete bass drum with an excellent finish because this will be a project drum and I'd just be removing the finish anyway.

I'm looking for an Orphan that wants a good home.

Hi

I have a 1951 gretsch 22"bass drum. The hardware is in great shape. No holes. Black paint, Gold leafing and yang on the side..(from my bruce lee phase...I had this since I was a teen ager which was a long long time ago) Gold is actually real so you can scrape it off and sell it.. The shell had some cracks that were repaired. Good for a project.. Name your price..

This is radioking's bass drum today. I set the kit up for a test run for the first time tonight. The drums sound even better than I thought they would - I'm very happy with the outcome.

I posted a photo a few days ago in the Gallery here but I did not have it completely set up to play at that time.

I want to thank Forum member Rich (radioking) for selling the bass drum - it is a fantastic virgin drum and I am NOT punching holes in it to mount the hardware (railmount/cymbal plate/Pratt Mute). There are not many Gretsch bass drums from the 1950's that are clean like this one. There was some damage inside the shell but I repaired it.

Thank you very much Rich you helped make this dream project come true.
