Can anyone help identify this kit?

Loading...

Howdy,

I'm new to the forum and a hack drummer (guitarist). I just bought a vintage Japanese Stencil kit for me and my kid to practice on at home. I gotta be honest, I bought them because they were cheap and looked cool. I have good cymbals and stands and a buddy is gonna help me get them re-headed and tuned. The drums don't have badges and I was wondering if anyone could identify what they are. They have some similarity to Star and Apollo, but not quite exact matches. Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers.

I have an Apollo that looks very similar. Your tom-tom lugs look different from the rest of your kit, however! Not a bad looking set of drums!

Agree, it looks the same to me.

Lingotega was ahead of me - I love these teardrop-shaped rack-tom lugs!...

Nice, I didn't notice that. One thing I can't find on all the pictures I've looked at is the double bass drum spurs. Does your Apollo kit have that? Have you guys seen that on other MIJ kits? Thanks for the feedback!

The kit is ripped from Slingerland.. hence the double spurs..

rims, lugs, even the strainer..

looks in good condition though..

What kind are they? They're red drums! :)

Really, who cares, hit 'em with a stick!

How about interior - re-rings? Gray paint? Close up on lugs? The tom lugs look like Hoshino, but don't think the other drum hardware matches. Maybe a Pearl stencil. Double spurs... I dunno.

I'm going to say mid-60's Pearl EXCEPT for the mounted tom, which is Hoshino.I haven't seen double spurs on an MIJ bass drum before.

From DaddyNowhere

Maybe a Pearl stencil. Double spurs... I dunno.

I also never seen 4-spurs BD on MIJ drums !! ---- only on TACTON (just after LEFIMA) and TROWA (just after SONOR) with drying lamp's sockets. But through a couple/triple of years both of them went to 2 spurs.

Hmm ... unclear ...

The lugs look different on the upper tom. More pointy.
