Did vintage Zildjian ever make a smaller ride cymbal

Like a 18 or 19 inch cymbal

That is what i am looking for .But if they made a smaller one ..i guess the smaller one they probably made is a 18 inch ride ...I would like to get rid of my 20 inch ping ride

I guess it depends on what your definition of "vintage" is. True vintage Zildjians (pre-70's) weren't classified as "Ride", "Crash/Ride", "Splash" etc. They were just classified by size and were made in different weights (thicknesses). There are plenty of thicker vintage 18" Zildjians around. A 19" might be a tougher find, but those were becoming more available by the mid-70's.

You say you want to get rid of your "Ping Ride". Is it labeled as a "Ping Ride"? If it is, it can't be any older than mid-70's or so, because Zildjian did not designate specific models until about that time. So again, I guess it depends on your definition of "vintage".

Not true,

I have seen A.Zils from the 50's and maybe earlier with black ink stamps stating "Bop Ride" "Hi Hat" etc..........

I recently saw a 14" Zildjian with a 50s stamp and HI HAT stamped in black ink. The letters were fairly tall and thin, and the cross bar on the H was lower than center. Pretty interesting piece.

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

I have an old 18" Flat ride, and had an 18" heavy ride both from the 70's.

Along with a 20" and 22" A ride and a 20" K.

I've got a fairly heavy ride from the 60's. It's not marked at all (or at least not that I can decipher), aside from the usual 60's stamp. So, yes they do exist.

18" Zildjian A rides and crashes were common during the mid to late 60's.

You can find 'em on Ebay.

You might also take a look at the 'Armand' 19" ride. The Armand series

cymbals are patterned after the 60's A's in shape and weight.

Hope this helps.

I have an early '50s 20" ink stamped Bop ride trans stamp. the ink stamp is faint but still readable.
