Today I buried a cymbal!!!!!

Loading...

Though I was a doubter, I'm now a serious believer in this. I didn't want to take the chance and do harm to a sweet cymbal. so I buried a cat. Now I recorded the cat prior to tossing her into the hole and covering her up for six weeks. I logged the little cat sounds in GarageBand so that comparisons could be made.

After waiting six weeks, I dug up the cat and did the GarageBand recording. It was amazing. Before I buried her, she was very vocal with lots of lows and highs. After I removed her from the hole, she was much quieter. There was almost no perceivable sound, save for the intermittent quiet hiss of gas escaping.

I am a believer now. I can speak from experience, this really works!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Sarcasm? Is that sarcasm I hear? Wouldn't it be funny though if burying these Artisans actually made them sound more "earthy". Of course that assumes we can all agree on what "earthy" means and that the burying of these cymbals actually changed the original sound. Since this all happened a couple of years ago, there must be some posts, on some site somewhere, from folks who have actually heard them live.

Hey Mark. No, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm just being goofy. I honestly wouldn't know about the cymbal thing. I loved the title ... Today I buried a cymbal. That just cracked me up. My mind went to ... Today I buried a cat. Thought it was funny. Later dude!

I saw a couple of cymbals buried and marinated with secret sauce.

They aged well in a short period of time.

They sounded good too.

Are you sure you just weren't out of it at the time? It sounds like you're describing a couple of Big Macs in a dumpster.

Not knowing you was the reason I said "out of it" rather than "stoned".
