...hello!
Now, at last – Jumping2 from the past weekend!
Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, I just had my mobile phone to take them.
Once unpacked and surveyed, the wrap shows the “normal issues” or “wear” you would expect from an instrument of this age. Some scratches and dark spots but after cleaning up you can´t locate them from a few steps distance.
I was very surprised, not only by the quality of the wrap (no lifting, bubbling, cracking,…) but also by the distance both ends of the wrap have to each other! Did some kind of "shrinking" take place here? (See pics 2 & 3.)
The lugs are really heavy duty and the chrome plated surface started to shine after short treatment with a cloth.
In fact the overall condition is way better than the five pics (in uncleaned condition!) show.
And the quality of the craftsmanship and materials in this instrument is just amazing! The inner ply of the shell still has it´s natural finish, the only “not-original section” of the shell is: the “snare-bed”. Seems as if someone tried to “make” one by using a half-round file – but it seems as if he/she was not very used to the mechanical handling of tools.Hmmmm I don´t believe this was factory-made.
More pics of cleaned snare in the next post!
