No, The S-O-M mounts for bass drum spurs are not like the ones for mounting toms. The tom mounts are straight and the bass drum pur mounts are angled....Mikey

Mikey777:

Ya, I know that there are 90 degree plates for the toms themselves, but my question is, are the angled mounts used to mount kick spurs the same as the angle mounts used on the kick drum to receive a single tom holder?

Ha, ha, yes very late for you, very early for me here in Boston. But never the wrong time for esoteric drum hardware questions. flowers2

Hey, personally I've not handled much Rogers stuff, but I do have Rob Cook's "The Rogers Book" so I'm getting dangerous...

I see that Rogers had two different angled S-O-M mounts: 1 called a "short angle mount" (No. 312R) as well as a "angle mount" (No. 311R).

Was this just a tom arm "option," or was one normally used for the tom and one for the spurs?

Bill:

As I understand it, there are three S-O-M mounting plates:

310: 90 degree straight mount (for the side of the tom)

311: 75 degree angle mount (for slightly off-center mounting closer to the top center of the kick drum)

312: 60 degree short angle mount (for mounting lower down the side of the kick drum)

I also think that the different angle mounts were used to mount the spurs based on the size of the kick. There is another thread I started here where someone explains the differences in use for spur mounting (something like the 311 is on 20" kicks and the 312 is on larger kicks--but I might have that backwards).

That does make sense...

I'm still learning on Rogers... and Slingerland... and... hey, wait! Even on the drums I am comfortable with and THINK I know quite a bit, something turns up that I've never seen before...

Oh well. Helps to keep me going!

Thanks,

Bill

To confuse you even more Lee the 75 degree mounts were also used for toms . I have a 20" and 22" with said mounts for the toms. As far as bass spur mounts the 75's are for 20" and the 60's are for 22" and 24". If you try and mount a 75 on a 22 the spur won't touch the ground...unless it's 2 feet long.(LOL) The mounts on 22" and 24" are placed higher on the shell because of lug spacing so the angel must be lower to point the spur towards the ground. Clear as mud?
