Hi I just got a used Slingerland kit there orphans. Anyway I am trying to make a laundry list of what I need to clen the grunge off. I noted you guys don't use much sandpaper and that. I also notice novus mentioned. So much information here I need cliff notes.

Here are some ideas:

1) Novus for the wrap

2) 3 in 1 oil for the T-rods

3) Cape Cod polishing cloths for any nickel hardware

4) paper towels and clean soft rags

5) wax

6) 220 grit sandpaper to just "kiss" the bearing edges to remove any roughness (careful not to change contour of edges)

7) Dawn dish detergent to soak any rusty parts overnight

8) old toothbrushes

9) Never Dull for chrome

I`m sure my fellow forum members can add to this list...

Cheers

Stu, you can find Novus online. There is 3 steps for Novus, #1 is the cleaner, #2 is for light scratches and #3 for heavy scratches. I personally have found that #3 is not needed. I always strip the shell and clean with #1, then iff there's some scratches that need attention, I use the #2. I recommend buying a big bottle of #1, as you will find yourself using that the most.

Here's a before and after with Novus and Blue Magic for the chrome:
