26" Zildjian stamp

From Drumaholic

That would be a late 1950's trademark. About '57 to '59. Have you ever weighed it?

I too would have guessed that one as a 70s due to the thin font on the Zildjian similar to these 2 that I have.

Note that the bottom one has a hollow ink logo on it so pretty definitely late 70s through possibly early 80s.

What identifies this one as a 50s versus a 70s?

Thanks!

Scott

Hi OddBall, the high shipping weight is to account for dimensional weight (huge box), as well as insurance. Unfortunately the shipping company API's don't yet allow for those parameters, so everything has to go under the one shipping weight.

Thanks,

Bill

It's pretty hard to make out the details on the stamp. If the Zildjian is in a very thin font then I would say 70s. Can you get a clearer shot of the stamp?Scott

I agree, late 1970s. I have cymbals from this era where the stamp is so faint I have to have a magnifying glass to see it.

You'll notice that there is a slight difference between those 2 trademarks that you've shown here. The font for "made in U.S.A" and "Zildjian & Co." is slightly smaller in the 70's example as compared to the late 1950's. Also the Arabic script on that one shows variations in line weight, whereas the the 50's example does not.

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply and try to educate! I will be honest and admit that the differences in this case may be too subtle for my poor eyes and I'll have to defer to experts like yourself in the absence of what are more obvious differences in the stamps or additional help from ink stamps. :)

I should ask though for confirmation that I'm correct that the top cymbal in my pictures is an early 1970's?

Thanks again!

Actually the top one looks like it could be late 1950's but I would need a good shot of the entire backside to confirm this.
