what is the diffrence between plain old wood and fiberwood..My President snare sure looks like it was made of some sort of wood,V

MME,Your snare is the wood shell.Fiberwood is like a deep brown color with no ply's like wood shells.Does your snare have the Pearl pres badge on it..Your snare looks to have just the plain Pearl badge from the late 60's...Mikey

First of all, to Mikey sorry for getting off the subject of wood drums.Wow that is a beauty of a drum! Do you have the rest of the kit? My President drums are a dark brown shell, looks like massonite but feels like plastic and is very hard. I suppose they took plastic, paper and wood to make these but I really dont know either.

Jeff, I only have the snare that was the only thing listed.I did ask the seller if they had more drums they said No just that one....Funny thing in the listing heading it did not say Snare drum they listed it as a "musical drum".....Mikey

So-called "Phenolic" material. Same kind of material used in electronical boards at the time.Poisonous in manufacture - and donĀ“t put it on a bonfire either!Jon

Darn it Jon!

I was going to get a Pearl President kit, build a bonfire with it and roast hotdogs! Now you've ruined it! Mind Blowi

LoLoLoLo

That's funny...ironic too if you consider all the nitrates and dangerous chemicals that get put in some hot dogs. If you just call the event "toxic take-out tonight," you'd have a fun, alliterative and toxic time.

...I'll stop now;)

Peace & rhythm,

kelly, it looks like one of the 6/9 ply shells. The bass was much thicker than the toms and snares.
