Really old hi-hats, maybe...

Loading...

Thank you for reading my post!

I have these odd hi-hats that came along w/ a old Gretch bass drum I rescued from the trash. It was 22", solid wood & looked very old when I snatched it in approx. 1977.

They are odd in that the bells are huge! They resemble finger cymbals in that the bells are so tall. 13" dia. made of a very dark metal of some sort.

Old school cymbals were wound when being made, do I have that right? These cymbals appear to be of stamped metal.

I am going to locate (borrow) someone's camera & post pix asap.

I just want to know if these things are authentic antiques & from a certain era. One never knows!

Thank you most kindly for your time & expertise!

kevins! Wow! The Deep Cup Brass looks quite like them!

Thank you ever so much!

I am unable to locate a trademark stamping on the cymbals.

I was wondering if I should clean them. I think not due to the fact that I've heard it said many times not to clean cymbals.

They are kind of whupped too. Bent up at the very top hole where the cymbal stand pokes through & along the edges.

I might ebay 'em, or just make them into wind chimes.

The 10" deep cup Ludwigs that I have are stamped Ludwig. Presumably, other companies sold similar ones as well and they may or may not have been marked.

I had to add this reply to this post. I got this hi-hat-which was homemade,a few years ago. The guy did a good job on it considering he used old plumbing parts.. The cymbals are really old as well. This guy made his own drumsticks as well. Now that is passion for drumming.Enjoy the pictures

I found trademarks on these finally!

One reads Leedy, the other reads V J La Page USA.

Would anyone have an idea if these cymbals are are of any importance? I am saving to get a set of electronic drums.

I know, acoustic drums are so much better in certain ways, but I am looking for easier portability.
